Data Deletion

Last updated 15 October 2026

You can ask Setu to delete the information it holds about you at any time.

If you connected Instagram or Facebook to Setu

  • Remove Setu from your account. On Instagram, open your settings, find the apps and websites connected to your account and remove Setu. On Facebook, go to Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and websites and remove Setu. Removing Setu tells us automatically: we delete your stored access token and stop receiving your messages.
  • To delete the data as well, send a data deletion request. On Facebook, open "View removed apps and websites" in the same place, choose Setu and send the request. Meta passes it to Setu, and you get a confirmation code and a link back to this page.
  • Or, as a workspace owner, open Connections in Setu and choose Disconnect for the channel. This deletes the access token immediately.

If you connected WhatsApp to Setu

  • As a workspace owner, open Connections in Setu and choose Disconnect for WhatsApp. Setu deletes the stored access token and stops receiving the number's messages straight away.
  • You can also remove Setu's access in your Meta business settings: open the WhatsApp Business account connected to Setu and remove Setu from the apps or partners that can use it. Setu then can no longer read or send messages for the number.
  • To delete the stored conversations as well, email hello@vantelyx.dev from the workspace owner's address with the WhatsApp number, or delete the workspace as described below.

Disconnecting compared with deleting

Disconnecting a channel, in Setu or by removing Setu in Meta settings, deletes the access token and stops Setu receiving that account's messages straight away. The conversations already in the workspace stay there so the business keeps its records. To delete them too, send a data deletion request or delete the workspace.

What a data deletion request deletes

For the channel the request is about, Setu deletes:

  • its conversations and their messages, including any imported earlier conversations;
  • the stored access token and the link that routes the account's messages to the workspace;
  • raw message events (with any product description read from a photo), records of failed replies, and the progress of any conversation import.

Orders and checkouts that came from those conversations are kept for the shop's records, because the shop may need them for accounting and deliveries. The customer's name, phone number and address are removed from them.

Deleting everything

A workspace owner can delete the whole workspace from Settings → Business → Danger zone. Setu asks you to sign in again before it deletes anything. This removes the workspace's conversations, customers, orders, products, settings, connected accounts, usage records and activity log, and cannot be undone. You can also email hello@vantelyx.dev from the workspace owner's address and we will confirm the request and complete it within 30 days.

If you messaged a shop that uses Setu

Your messages belong to that shop's inbox. Ask the shop to delete your conversation, or email us with the shop's name and your Instagram username, Facebook name or WhatsApp number and we will help.

Checking a request

When a deletion is requested through Meta, you receive a confirmation code and a link to this page that shows the request's status.
